DORADO AIR
In the PRO version, Dorado Air represents our lightest weight air spring technology that allows for internal travel adjustments with no added parts. New travel spacers account for negative air volume change, so the 110mm fork has the same initial stroke feel as the 150mm.
Dorado Air (and Expert Air) spring systems contain a unique balancing valve that equalizes the positive and negative air chambers during the air fill process. This gives the spring rate a consistent feel without any flat or dead spots in the stroke. This feature gives riders of different weights the same initial stroke feel.
The Pro version of the Mattoc incorporates the most advanced componentry and technologies, however, the EXPERT and COMP levels can be easily upgraded thanks to the transversal internal compatibility.
Infinite Rate Tune (IRT)
Infinite Rate Tune (IRT) allows for advanced spring tuning by independently adjusting air pressures in the beginning and at the end of the fork’s stroke. IRT technology creates a secondary positive air spring that effects only the middle to end stroke of the fork. This allows the main air spring to be set to lower pressures for improved small bump sensitivity while maintaining mid-stroke support and moderate to aggressive end-stroke ramp-up. This technology is available as an aftermarket upgrade to both Expert and Comp forks.
VTT
VARIABLE TERRAIN TUNE (VTT)
Adjustments: 3-Position Compression Adjust. When developing the VTT Pro damper we set out with a goal to maintain a rock-solid lockout without compromising the open and mid settings. The downside to many dampers with firm lockout modes is that in any other position than lock-out you will reach some critical shaft velocity that choke off the low-speed flow path. When this happens the damper peaks at nearly the same lock-out force as the locked-out position. This translates to harsh force in the hands and possibly lack of control. The goal with VTT is to eliminate that high-speed spike while maintaining the lock-out force demanded by most XC users. This allows the fork to have a less progressive high-speed response while maintaining some low-speed support without getting willowy. This is achieved thru independent shim stacks (one for Lockout, one for the other two positions). By controlling the shim stack through which the oil flow is diverted we can manipulate the characteristic of the damper to be Lock-out, Digressive, or progressive to meet the demands of the rider and terrain.”
MC2 sealed damper
The Mattoc Pro features a trail tuned MC2 sealed damper that offers more consistent damping and lighter breakaway force, especially over long descents. Our Damper uses a bladder system to compensate for heat buildup along with a relief valve. The combination of both systems give us consistency along with long service life. The system also uses Manitou’s HBO (Hydraulic Bottom Out) system to control the final 30mm of travel, ensuring the rider never feels the bottom of their travel on even the biggest hits.
TSR (Trail Side Relief)
TSR (Trail Side Relief) casting bleed screws allow users to release casting pressure from the fork. Casting pressure increases during normal riding. Extreme riding can increase the pressure at a quicker rate. Temperature and elevation changes can also cause increased casting pressure. Releasing casting pressure can improve overall fork feel and small bump compliance.
